This quick and easy Homemade Vegan Garlic Bread sure beats any shop-bought vegan garlic bread.
To be honest, I have only found a couple of brands that do vegan garlic bread and they barely had any filling. Being the garlic lover that I am, I really want to taste the garlic!
Fresh Garlic or Purée
Don’t get me wrong, fresh garlic is gorgeous. But it really needs to be very well minced for garlic bread and, to keep this recipe quick, purée works extremely well.
Also, Garlic Purée already has a lovely saltiness which further compliments the taste.
However, I would only recommend FRESH parsley when making garlic bread.
Many people shy away from eating garlic because of the odour it leaves on your breath. And that’s why parsley is nearly always put with garlic bread to help eliminate ‘garlic breath’.
But you can’t put parsley with every dish you use garlic in, can you?
There are other options to help eliminate the odour and raw apple and lettuce are amongst those options.
Personally, I don’t care. The health benefits of eating garlic are so great, it’s definitely worth a bit of ‘Garlic Breath’! ????
And with Halloween next month, everyone will benefit from eating some extra garlic!!????♀️
What makes this Homemade Vegan Garlic Bread so Quick?
Well, I have already mentioned using ready-made garlic purée, but I also use part-baked baguettes.
Just check they are definitely vegan. I used Tesco’s Homebake Baguettes as they state vegan on the packet which means I don’t have to scrutinise the ingredients. And they are very good value too!
They say to bake for 8-10 minutes, but I always bake for 10-12 to allow the garlic butter to melt properly. If you get yours out of the oven and it looks like the garlic butter hasn’t completely melted, just cover them loosely in foil (if they look like they might burn) and put back in the oven for a couple more minutes.
So start by mixing the garlic purée, vegan butter, and parsley together to form a garlic butter.
Then slice each baguette 7 times, to make 8 slices per baguette.
I like to make a diagonal slice so that you get more garlic butter over the slice – YUMMY!
Then put a teaspoon in each slice and gently spread, so as not to break the slice off.
If there is any garlic butter left, just top up any slices that look like they need a bit more.
Pop in a preheated oven – see recipe directions, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
If you feel they need a bit longer – all ovens are different – just bake for a couple of minutes extra.
Delicious!
I know I have put this serves 4, but I love this Homemade Vegan Garlic Bread so much, I eat a whole baguette to myself! It still tastes great cold the next day!
