I have had my Pampered Chef Garlic Slicer for about 5 years and it is still in tip-top condition.
Along with The Garlic Twist, it’s one of my favourite kitchen gadgets.
It’s a must-have when you need finely sliced garlic for a recipe, as it’s not that easy to get a really fine slice with a knife. I was always cutting myself and had a thick bit leftover. Whereas the garlic slicer produces perfect wafer-thin slices.
Easy to use – with a little pressure applied as you twist the top, the two stainless steel blades effortlessly slice the garlic.
Easy to clean – simply hold under a running tap or submerge into washing-up water and shake so the water releases any fibres left on the blades.
Easy to use and easy to clean are two very important factors when there’s enough to do in the kitchen!
You can slice from as little as 1 garlic clove to about 4 or 6, depending on size. Just slice the bottom off each clove and peel. Don’t be tempted to squash or roll the garlic to remove the skin as you won’t get lovely formed slices.

However, the only thing that is crucial when using the garlic slicer, you do need fresh garlic. By this I mean, don’t use garlic that has been sat around for a few weeks. The garlic needs to be fresh and firm in order for it to slice and not get dragged through the blades, which can happen if too soft due to age.

Finely sliced garlic is great in salads, and with a little drizzling of olive oil, can lift the flavours in a plate of sliced tomatoes.
Fine slices of garlic add a subtle flavour to my Woodland Mushrooms and work really well in my Warm Winter Potato Salad.
